We process personal data that we receive from you during the application process. Additionally, we may obtain your personal data if you use a third-party source, such as Facebook or LinkedIn, to connect with our employees.
4. Legal Basis and Purpose of Data Processing
Personal data of applicants is processed to manage and facilitate recruitment for our company and to establish employment relationships. We process your personal data in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG), along with all other relevant laws.
4.1. Conducting the Application Process (§ 26 Para. 1 BDSG)
The data processing is carried out for the purpose of the application process under § 26 Paragraph 1 BDSG. Personal data of applicants may be processed if necessary for the decision on establishing an employment relationship. The necessity and extent of data collection depend on the position to be filled. In specific cases, more extensive data processing may be required, for example, when the desired position involves handling highly confidential tasks, increased personnel or financial responsibility, or specific physical and health requirements. Such data processing only occurs once the application process is concluded and your employment is imminent.
4.2. Processing Based on Legitimate Interest (Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. f GDPR)
In certain cases, we process your data to protect our legitimate interests or those of third parties.
- To defend legal claims in case of a proceeding under the General Equal Treatment Act (AGG). If a legal dispute arises, we have a legitimate interest in processing the data for evidentiary purposes.
- Data comparison with EU anti-terror lists according to Regulations (EC) No. 2580/2001 and 881/2002. As a company, we are legally required to participate in counter-terrorism efforts by ensuring that no funds are provided to individuals or organizations listed on terror lists (prohibition on provision).
- Application for financial support for new hires from relevant agencies (regional employment agencies, integration or inclusion offices of the federal states).

Your data is primarily processed by our HR department and the department head responsible for the position you applied for. In some cases, other internal departments may also be involved in processing your data.

5.2. External Service Providers
External service providers are not involved in the application process and do not receive personal data.
6. Transfer of Personal Data to Third Countries
Countries outside the European Union (and the European Economic Area “EEA”) handle personal data protection differently than those within the European Union.
For this reason, we do not use service providers outside the European Union to process your data.
7. Storage Period/Deletion of Your Data
We store your personal data as long as necessary for the decision regarding your application.
If your application is successful, your data may be further processed for employment purposes.
If no employment relationship is established, we may continue to store your data if required to defend against potential legal claims. Generally, your data will be deleted within six months after the application process ends.
Applicants’ data will also be deleted if an application is withdrawn, which applicants may do at any time. Deletion will occur no later than six months after withdrawal, unless there are legal retention obligations. Travel expense reimbursements are stored in accordance with tax regulations.
